Year 2026
Summary of asteroidal occultations for 2026
General overview of my observations of asteroid occultations in 2026.
The occultation of a star by asteroid 1991 RE7 - 23 August 2026
Today, a shorter occultation of a fainter star with a duration of just under a second. But a nice, significant drop.
The occultation of a star by asteroid 1995 UW3 - 20 January 2026
Today, the eclipse of the small asteroid 1995 UW3 - the diameter is about 2.7 km. During observation, faint diffraction phenomena appeared in the light curve.
The occultation of a star by asteroid Counselman - 01 March 2026
This night I managed to observe three positive planetary occultations - Calvinrieder, 2001 EX16 and Counselman. I prepared a light curve for the last observation.
The occultation of a star by asteroid Wumengchao - 17 January 2026
First occultation of the year. Faint star, short occultation. Observation was at the limit of my technical capabilities. But it was successful.
The occultation of a star by asteroid Boliviana - 08 September 2026
Asteroid 712 Boliviana measures approximately 118 km in diameter. It was discovered on March 19, 1911, by the German astronomer and pioneer of astrophotography Maximilian Franz Joseph Cornelius Wolf. The shadow of the asteroid path crossed Europe, passing over the southern Czech Republic and the northern Slovak Republic. Twenty-six observers signed up to observe the event; unfortunately, most faced adverse weather or technical issues. Ultimately, five observers successfully recorded the occultation. I was among the successful ones.
